NNP Rising Star

A Rising Star is one who exemplifies passion for their work and is making a large impact in a short time through exemplary practice, leadership, service, and education. A Rising Star contributes to the growth of the profession in the early stages of their career by engaging in projects, publications, activities and initiatives that demonstrate achievements that have a sustained and positive impact on his/her institution and the profession as a whole.

Selection Criteria
A nominee should:
  • Demonstrate excellence in the practice and art of advanced practice neonatal nursing
  • Exemplify leadership, teamwork, and serve as a role model for others
  • Exhibit passion and commitment to advancing neonatal nursing practice reflected through contributions made at a local, state, or national level. This is evident through membership and involvement in NANN/NANNP, local NANN chapters, or other professional associations. Involvement is serving as a volunteer in any capacity
  • Have contributed to the development, implementation, and fostering of advances in neonatal care through clinical projects, programs, educational offerings, and creative problem solving.
  • Possess talents and skills that deserve recognition and will foster and encourage continued growth and development in the NNP role.

Winner Receives

  • Complimentary conference registration
  • $500 stipend to be applied to hotel and travel costs
  • $250 honorarium
  • Trophy

Requirements

  • Nominees must be a current NANNP member and an actively practicing neonatal nurse practitioner consistent with Benner's (1984) stages of clinical proficiency and development.
  • A nominee's CV must be submitted along with the application.
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation* must accompany the application; one of which should be from the nominator. The letters should clearly address and provide supporting examples of the selection criteria.

*NOTE: This a blinded application process. The letters of recommendation should not include any identifying information (name, e-mail address, etc.) in order to ensure impartiality by the reviewers. The letters may either contain blanks instead of the name or use "the candidate" or a similar substitute.
