Lifetime Achievement in Neonatal Nursing

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes longstanding commitment to neonatal nursing that has influenced or changed the field in a fundamental manner.


Selection Criteria
Examples of how the nominee may demonstrate contributions to neonatal nursing include (but are not limited to):
  • Publication of materials that have had a profound effect on the direction or practice of neonatal nursing.
  • Research in the field that has contributed to the advancement of nursing practice in neonatal care or improved outcomes for neonates.
  • Active work with other healthcare organizations and the community to improve the quality of neonatal care across the continuum of care.
  • Demonstration of outstanding initiative in advancing the education of colleagues, patients, and the public.

Winner Receives

  • Complimentary conference registration
  • $500 stipend to be applied to hotel and travel costs
  • $250 honorarium
  • Trophy


  • The nominee is not required to be a NANN member or a nurse.
  • A nominee's CV must be submitted along with the application.
  • The nominator's letter must accompany the application. The letter should clearly address the selection criteria and provide examples of how the nominee has distinguished her/himself in the field of neonatal nursing.
  • May be awarded posthumously.
